John Ivan Turnbow died on 10 August 1979 at age 65.
“Ivan, or Bibe as he would be called by most of his family and acquaintances, was born in Kamas, Summit County, Utah on January, 2, 1914 to John Gillenroy Turnbow and Hepzibah Alice Woolstenhulme. He was the 6th of 11 children

He was taught the value of work at an early age and was very industrious all his life. He loved the out-doors and animals and the forests and mountains. During his life he worked in the mountains with the Forest Service and Wildlife Resources. This experience put him in nearly every range of mountains in Utah.

He was a religious man and loved the gospel. He served a mission to Central States. He married Mary LaVerle Wagstaff on Oct. 9 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. He is the father of 4 children, LaVerle, Opal Marie, Steven J. and Kathleen, whom he loved dearly.”.

Mary Elizabeth Turnbow and John Clair Neel appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of an unknown place , enumerated 5 April 1930. Samuel Turnbow

M, b. 16 October 1804, d. 18 November 1890
     Samuel Turnbow was born on 16 October 1804 at Lexington, Fayette, Kentucky. He was the son of Isaac Turnbow and Margaret Talkington. Samuel Turnbow married Sylvira Caroline Hart, daughter of Warren Hart and Ellen Reese, on 1 October 1829 at Perry, Alabama.1 Samuel Turnbow appeared on the census of 1830 at Perry, Alabama; where he is listed as Sam'l Turnbo; Sylvira age is given as between 15 and 20.2 He appeared on the census of 1840 at Perry, Alabama.3 He was baptized in the LDS church on 2 March 1840. He was baptized by his relative, Benjamin L. Clapp, and was probably the first member of the church baptized in Alabama. The first concerted missionary work began in Alabama in April 1842.4 In February 1844, Samuel was listed as one of the 43 members of the Bogue Chitta branch of theLDS church in Alabama, holding the office of a priest.5 He was called in July 1846 as one of the bishops who were charged with taking care of the families of those who left to serve in the Mormon Battalion.6 Samuel was in one of the first pioneer groups to enter the Salt Lake valley. "No sooner had the Saints pitched their camp on the banks of City Creek, as the small mountain stream was subsequently named, than Samuel Turnbow unlashed his precious plow and attempted to turn over the sun-baked soil. it was an impossible feat. The shallow creek was dammed, however, and the precious water spread over the ground, making easy the task of cultivation. It was also the first attempt at irrigation in Utah..."7 He and Sylvira Caroline Hart appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Great Salt Lake, Utah Territory, enumerated 1850.8 Samuel Turnbow married Deborah Ann Price on 27 November 1854.9 Samuel served as first counselor in the 14th Ward bishopric in Salt Lake City from 1859 to 1872.10 Samuel Turnbow died on 18 November 1890 at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah, USA, at age 86. He was buried on 21 November 1890 at Salt Lake City Cemetary, SLC, Ut.
