Cordelia Blanche Neel and Kirk Elsworth Gray lived in 1908 at Old Richmond Street, El Cerrito, California. The El Cerrito Historical Society provides the following information. " Kirk Elsworth Gray and his wife Cordella, who had a son Gerald Kirk Gray, purchased a lot on Richmond Street in 1908. This was next door south of the George Barber home. He completed his home in 1911, at which time he moved in while working for Standard Oil. At the first city election for Incorporation on August 23, 1917, Mr. Gray was elected Trustee and chosen chairman or mayor of the first board."3 Cordelia Blanche Neel and Kirk Elsworth Gray appeared on the 1920 Federal Census of El Cerrito, Contra Costa, California, enumerated 10 January 1920, Living with Cordelia and Kirk is sister-in-law, Elise Neel, who is a widow, and her daughter Maxine.. Their children Gerald Kirk were listed as living with them.4 Cordelia Blanche Neel appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of El Cerrito, Contra Costa, California, enumerated 1930. Her children Gerald Kirk were listed as living with her.5 Cordelia Blanche Neel and Gerald Kirk Gray lived in 1942 at Richmond St, El Cerrito, Contra Costa, California.6 Cordelia Blanche Neel died on 22 August 1962 at Contra Costa, California, at age 83.7 Oakland Tribune: "Cordelia Blanche Gray, wife of the late Kirk E Gray, first mayor of El Cerrito, beloved mother of Gerald Kirk Gray and wife Yvonne of Walnut Creek. Survived by one sister, Alice Dilley of Los Angeles, two brothers James Neel of Santa Clara and Herbert Neel of Sacramento, also survived by four grandchildren. A resident of El Corrito for 52 years. A member of the Martinez Methodist Church.       David Hugh Neel was also known as David Hugh Neal. He was born on 5 February 1806 at Madison Co., Kentucky. He was the son of John Neel Sr. and Rebecca Guess. David Hugh Neelimmigrated with probably John Neel Sr.and other members of the family in 1826 to Ray, Missouri.1 David Hugh Neel married Avarilla Casper, daughter of William Casper and Avarilla Durbin, on 13 January 1839 at Ray County, Missouri.2 David Hugh Neel appeared on the census of 1840 at Crooked River, Ray County, Missouri.3 In June 1850 brothers James and David H. Neel and their families left Missouri for California. They joined with the Justus Morse wagon train of Mormons headed for Utah on June 10, but struck out on their own on July 8. They probably arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in September 1850.4 He and Avarilla Casper appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Utah, Utah Territory, enumerated April 1851, Joseph McDowell, probably a nephew of Avarilla, is living with the family..
