Alta Turnbow died on 5 August 2000 at Oakley, Summit, Utah, at age 83.

It is my will that after my death, the whole of my estate both real and personal except such Legacies as I shall hereinafter give to my son Whiting, daughter Sallie and son Joseph be kept together and that my beloved wife Margaret have the use of the whole for the support of herself during her natural life or widowhood and for the maintenance and education of my three youngest children.
2nd. It is my will that the stock of cattle which I have given to my son, Samuel, together with one chestnut sorrel filly be confirmed to him. 2ndly, I give to my son Whiting, one cow and calf and one heifer and one sow and pigs together with the next colt my mare may have to him and his heirs forever. He died on 11 June 1829 at Perry, Alabama.

originally immigrated to this county from Alsace-Lorraine, a small area now situated
between Germany and France on the Rhine River. He was born there approximately
1740, but it is not known when he immigrated to Colonial America. he married a
Margaret and lived in Chester, South Carolina, as early as 1767; there he had a 150
acre farm. He later served in the Chester District Militia during the Revolutionary War.
According to various records, it is believed that he lived to the ripe old age of 106 and
died at Fork Deer, Tennessee._

John Gillenroy Turnbow

M, b. 13 September 1833, d. 26 December 1907
     John Gillenroy Turnbow was born on 13 September 1833 at Hamburg, Perry, Alabama. He was the son of Samuel Turnbow and Sylvira Caroline Hart. John Gillenroy Turnbow was baptized in the LDS church on 15 September 1846. John, with several of his siblings, attended the first LDS Sunday School established by Elder Richard Ballantyne in the Salt Lake Valley in 1849. He was honored along with other surviving members of the original thirty students at the Sunday School Jubilee in 1899. The meetings were held in a room of Ballantyne's log house located on the corner of First West and Third South Streets, Salt Lake City.1 He appeared on the 1850 Federal Census of Great Salt Lake, Utah Territory, in the household of Sylvira Caroline Hart and Samuel Turnbow.2 John Gillenroy Turnbow married Sarah Elizabeth Horne, daughter of Moses Horne and Angeline Hodgkins, on 17 July 1860 at Salt Lake, S-Lk, Ut. John Gillenroy Turnbow died on 26 December 1907 at Kamas, Summit, Ut, at age 74. He was buried on 30 December 1907 at Kamas, Summit, Ut.

John Gillenroy Turnbow Jr.

     John Gillenroy Turnbow Jr. was born on 1 January 1865 at Kamas, Summit, Ut. He was the son of John Gillenroy Turnbow and Sarah Elizabeth Horne. John Gillenroy Turnbow Jr. Or birth 1 Jan 1869. He married Hephzibah Alice Woolstenhulme, daughter of James Woolstenhulme and Mary Love Page, on 9 November 1904 at Coalville, Summit, Ut. John Gillenroy Turnbow Jr. was baptized in the LDS church on 2 September 1916. He and Hephzibah Alice Woolstenhulme appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Kamas, Summit, Utah, enumerated 15 April 1930. Their children Clifford, Orin Alfred, John Ivan, John Clair, Alta, Zina, Lee and Blanche were listed as living with them.1 John Gillenroy Turnbow Jr. died on 3 May 1950 at Kamas, Summit, Ut, at age 85. He was buried on 6 May 1950 at Marion, Summit, Ut.

JOHN GILLENROY TURNBOW, JR.

John Jr. was the fourth child of his parents, John G and Sara E. Turnbow. He was born in “Kamas Prairie” as it was called, but today known as Kamas, Utah on a cold 1 Jan 1869.. John operated a farm and cattle ranch and was the first U. S. Forest Ranger on the Wasatch National Forest. He married Hepzibah Alice Woolstenhulme 9 Nov 1904 in Coalville, Utah. They had 11 children, 5 daughters and 6 sons.
He spent years freighting from Kamas to Salt Lake City, Utah. He hauled timber from Kamas to Park City for the mines, for “mining props”. He sang in the Kamas Ward Choir. He also sang with a Male Quartet group for years. He always loved music. He loved the young children; often he would sing and play with the gang of young people at his home. He always loved to go in the mountains for picnics with his family. Written by daughter, Alta Turnbow Clark.
