Thomas Palmer appeared on the census of 1841 at Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England; where he's working as a servant.² He married Ann Smith, daughter of Elisha Smith and Mary Bishop, on 12 May 1844 at St. Philips Cathedral, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. Thomas Palmer and Ann Smith were baptized in the LDS church on 29 April 1847 at Leamington, Worchester, England; by Elder Thomas Smith. Thomas Palmer was baptized in the LDS church on 29 April 1848 at England. He and Ann Smith appeared on the census of 1851 at Dist 12, Leamington Priors, Warwickshire, England; where Thomas is working as a rail laborer. A lodger living with the family, Henry Hathway, is also a rail laborer. Ann's age is given as 26, Thomas is 35 years old.¹ Thomas Palmer and Ann Smith immigrated from Liverpool, England in 1855 to New Orleans, Louisiana, arriving on the ship "Charles Buck" in the Richard Ballantyne company on 16 March 1855.³ Thomas Palmer married Frances Starkins on 21 August 1857 at Salt Lake City, S-Lk, Ut. In September 1861 Thomas claimed land "from the river to the foothills" in Enterprise, Utah along with Jesse Haven. Thomas and Jesse built some of the first houses in the area in 1862. Jesse's sister, Mary Ellen, was the mother of Edmond Francis Palmer, who married Thomas' eldest daughter, Eliza Ann Palmer.⁴ Thomas Palmer married Francis Farr on 9 February 1864; Francis Farr Mills was the widowed mother of Louisa Harriet Mills, Thomas Palmer's third wife. In 1864 she started working as a housekeeper for Thomas and soon thereafer married him. Thomas Palmer married Louisa Harriott Susan Mills on 9 February 1865 at Salt Lake City, S-Lk, Ut. Thomas Palmer and Francis Farr appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Enterprise, Morgan, Utah, enumerated 20 June 1870, Living next door is fourth wife Louisa and 3 month old daughter Louisa.. Their children George and Harriet were listed as living with them His children William Charles, Thomas, John and Francis were listed as living with him.⁵ Thomas Palmer and Louisa Harriott Susan Mills appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Enterprise, Morgan, Utah, enumerated June 1880. Their children Walter W, William Charles, Thomas, John, George, Harriet, Joseph, Ernest, Frederick and Tracey were listed as living with them.⁶ Thomas Palmer and Louisa Harriott Susan Mills appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Peterson, Morgan, Utah, enumerated 28 June 1900. Their children Frederick, Tracey, Frances R, Thomas H., Clara P, Oliver J and Nellie C. were listed as living with them.⁷ Thomas Palmer died on 21 November 1900 at Enterprise, Morgan, Utah, USA, at age 80. He was buried on 23 November 1900 at Enterprise, Morgan, Utah.
