     Joseph Linsey was born circa 1730. He he probably was the brother of Leonard Linsey. He married Rachel (?). Joseph Linsey and Leonard Linsey engaged in land transaction on 5 March 1754 at St Johns Parish, Granville, North Carolina.1 Two men named Joseph Lindsey served in John Glover's militia company in October 1754 at Granville, North Carolina, probably father and son. Leonard "Lyndsey," who served in the same company, may also have been the son of Joseph Lindsey. Joseph Linsey paid taxes listed as Joseph Lindsey in 1769 at Granville, North Carolina. He was listed as a member of the Granville militia, Capt William Williams company, on 3 October 1771 at Granville, North Carolina. He and his son Laban signed the "Oath of Allegiance" in 1778 at Nutbush District, Granville, North Carolina. He died on 5 March 1793 at Warren, North Carolina, USA.

     Leonard Linsey was born circa 1730. He paid taxes where he's listed as Leonard Linsoy. Joseph Linsey also paid Granville taxes in that year. in 1750 at Granville, North Carolina. He and Joseph Linsey engaged in land transaction on 5 March 1754 at St Johns Parish, Granville, North Carolina.1 Leonard Linsey began military service on 8 October 1754 at Granville, North Carolina, in John Glover's company along with many of his kinsmen (Joseph Lindsey, Bartlet Searcy).2 He served in the militia on 6 September 1755 at Granville, North Carolina, in the company of Jonathan Sallis. Sherwood Harris served in the same company.3 He married Sarah Searcy, daughter of John Searcy Sr. and Phoebe Hargreaves, in 1760 at Granville Co, North Carolina. Leonard Linsey (Lindsey) on 27 November 1760 purchased 640 acres in St Johns Parish in Granville county. Joseph Lindsey was a witness to the transaction.4 He was engaged in land transaction selling land to Jordan Rowland. on 15 March 1771 at Bute, North Carolina.5 He witnessed the marriage of John Guess and Mary Linsey circa 1775. Leonard Linsey and his father-in-lawJohn Guess (listed as "Leo Linny") refused to take the ‘Oath of Allegiance’ on 5 August 1778 at Oxford District, Granville, North Carolina.6 Leonard Linsey witnessed the New Tag of John Guess and Mary Linsey on 11 March 1780 at Granville, North Carolina; “John Guest bought 287 acres of land from Elisha Linsey with condition that John Guest is to maintain Leonard Linsey and wife Sarah for their lifetime. I Leonard Linsey of Granville county in the State of North Carolina being weak in body but of sound mind and memory thanks to almighty god for the same to sound mind that is appointed for all man once to die. do make constituted appoint and ordain this my last Will of Testament and first I will that all my debts which I owe be fore with levied out of my estate of paid.
Item. I lend to my loving wife Sarah during her natural life my plantation. Of houses whereon I now live together with one hundred and forty three acres of land including round the said plantation also all of my household goods and furniture my stock of every kind of all my plantation.

Item I give and bequeath to my son Elisha Linsey the remaining part of my land which I have not lent my wife containing one hundred and forty acres including plantation whereon he now lives also half of my iron which is not worked up into tools to him and his heirs forever.
My will and desire is that after my wife's decease the land of plantation which I have lent her be sold for the that can be got for it of the money arising there from such sale be equally divided among my daughters that shall then be living and all the personal essentails to be sold after equally be divided to my said son Elisha., my daughters that shall be living to their heirs forever. I also appoint my friends Richard Searcy, Richard Harris, my Executors to this my lst will and testament. In the Testimony whereof I have here unto set any hand of seal

He died in 1785 at Granville County, North Carolina. His estate was probated in November 1796 at Granville, North Carolina, dividing land in Fishing Creek between his son and five daughters.9
